PHOTO/ This is Frrok Lleshaj, the former police officer who was executed today near his apartment in Vau e Dejës! Previously sentenced to 21 years in prison for the murder of his cousin

The 65-year-old man in the photo, Frrok Lleshaj, was found shot to death this evening in the village of Paçram in Vau i Dejës.

Lleshaj was found dead on the side of the road by several passersby, while the police arrived a few minutes later and began investigations into the criminal incident and the identification of the perpetrator(s).

The 65-year-old, former State Police officer was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the execution by gunfire of his cousin Dode Lleshaj.

The crime occurred 30 years ago, and after being arrested he managed to escape from prison in 1997.

Media sources report that after several years, in 2006 Lleshaj was found and handcuffed, serving a sentence of 21 years in prison. The court decision states that he was released from prison on March 16, 2023.

"With decision no. 37, dated 17.03.2006 of the Shkodra Court, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for intentional murder and was released on 16.03.2023 from the Shkodra Penitentiary Institution."

Based on the victim's criminal past, the main line of investigation by the police is that of a blood feud.
