Albanian drug gang busted in Spain, 9 people arrested!

Spanish authorities have dismantled an Albanian criminal group involved in marijuana cultivation in the province of Zaragoza. Nine Albanians, aged 21 to 46, were arrested.
According to Spanish media , as part of the codenamed operation RIOG, 8 checks were carried out and more than 20 kg of marijuana ready for distribution and over 2,000 cannabis plants were seized.
The network had been operating for months in industrial warehouses and housing scattered across several municipalities around Zaragoza, including Cuarte de Huerva, San Mateo de Gállego, La Puebla de Alfindén and Zuera. The plantations were equipped with advanced technology and strong security measures.
Authorities also discovered illegal connections to the electricity grid, causing damage of over 210,000 euros, equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 250 homes.
The investigation was launched in September 2024 by the Garda Civile of Caseta, following suspicions of the use of industrial buildings for cannabis cultivation. Although the activity was temporarily suspended, the network resumed operations at the end of the summer, which led to the final intervention of the authorities.
According to the investigation, the organization had a well-organized hierarchical structure, with leaders managing logistics and finances, associates for transporting materials, and caretakers who lived inside the plantations to supervise them. Cash, mobile phones, and documents were also seized during the raids.
