The aunt of 15-year-old Erjon Boba, Bahrije Çupi, reacted today to the protest organized by citizens in Durrës as a sign of solidarity.
She expresses disappointment at the lack of support from Albanians in the announced protest, saying that the deepest consolation would be to be here today.
She further thanks all Albanians for the messages and for participating in the protest.
"This negligence of a people in the face of a tragedy shows a decline in social conscience... our son is gone and will never return, but the parents who are in every family today, or the teachers in schools, the doctors, the teachers, tomorrow there may be another Erion, another Martin. Erion's knives may be the knives of another child tomorrow. Even justice for Erion is very difficult.... I have received hundreds of messages, and I thank all Albanians for the messages of condolence, but the deepest consolation would be for them to be here today in this announced protest ," she says.
How did the fight between Erjon Boba and the 14-year-old in Durrës start?
15-year-old Erjon Boba was stabbed in the chest, near the heart, at around 2:00 PM on November 25, just a 20-minute walk from the “Dom Nikollë Kaçorri” school, where both students involved in the conflict studied. The fight between Erjon and the 14-year-old with the initials MK began with a comment on social media and constant insults at school, which later escalated into a stabbing.
It is suspected that 15-year-old Erjon Boba had called the 14-year-old perpetrator to ask for clarification, after hearing that he was constantly cursing him at school. They agreed to meet to clarify, where other friends of both parties were also present, who were questioned by the police about the serious incident.
But their meeting ended in a fight, where the 14-year-old with the initials MK stabbed Erjon Boba four times with a knife, causing serious wounds to his heart. After being injured, Boba was urgently taken to the "Mother Teresa" hospital and underwent surgery, but he did not survive the wounds, where he lost his life after 9 days in a fight for life.
