Korça Border Police has cracked down on two cases of illegalities at the Qafë Thanë and Gorica border crossings.
In one case, a citizen from North Macedonia was caught transporting an illegal Moroccan immigrant.
In the other case, a resident of Zaroshka was caught with smuggled goods without invoices. Both persons were prosecuted at large and the materials were referred to the Korça Prosecutor's Office.
DVKM Korça/Struck at Qafë Thane and Gorica border checkpoints, 2 cases of illegalities at the border.
During detailed checks, carried out based on risk analysis, on citizens and the vehicles they travel with, the services of the Korça Local Directorate for Border and Migration found, at the entrance to the Republic of Albania, 2 cases of illegalities at the border. Specifically:
-at the Qafë Thanë BCP, during the search of the truck driven by citizen VT, 30 years old, resident of North Macedonia, 1 Moroccan citizen was found hiding under the trailer. At the end of the procedural actions in the case, proceedings were initiated against the 30-year-old, for the criminal offense of "Aid for illegal border crossing";
-at the Gorica checkpoint, during a search of the vehicle driven by citizen TA, 63 years old, resident of the village of Zaroshke, food products and medicines were found, without purchase receipts. At the end of the procedural actions in the case, proceedings were initiated against the 63-year-old, for the criminal offenses of “Smuggling of other goods” and “Trading and transporting contraband goods”. The goods were also seized as material evidence.
Controls against illegalities at the border and attempts to move illegally continue, alongside work to manage the flow and provide a prompt and ethical police service to citizens.
The procedural materials were referred to the Korça Prosecutor's Office for further action.
