Massacre before the court in Germany / Berat Nimani surrenders to the police

Following the massacre in front of the Bielefeld district court in Germany, suspect Berat Nimani surrendered on Thursday night, police announced.
He is the brother of boxer Besar Nimani, who was shot dead in 2024.
His lawyer had announced that Nimani is expected to surrender to the police.
He reportedly appeared at police headquarters late Thursday evening, accompanied by his lawyer. He will appear in court on Friday.
The charges against Berat Nimani are serious: He is being investigated for four counts of attempted murder.
After the shooting in front of the Bielefeld district court on Wednesday, police put him on the wanted list.
At around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, four people were shot near the Bielefeld Regional Court: two 25-year-olds, a 23-year-old and a 63-year-old. Police confirmed on Thursday evening that the condition of all those injured is stable.
German authorities suspect that the attack is revenge by Berat Nimani for the murder of his brother. This is because the father and brother of Besar Nimani's killer, who were near the courthouse at the time of the incident, were injured in the attack.
