It happens for the first time / Fier journalists "decorate" Ilir Proda for the high transparency he has shown with the media

A very rare event has occurred in the State Police, where the General Director, Ilir Proda, has been honored with an award by the Union of Albanian Journalists of Fier. But more than the "decoration" itself, the more important news is the fact that Proda has welcomed the people who have given him the award in a meeting and even more important as news is the fact that the State Police has written a long statement about this event, which you can read in full below!
State Police reaction:
"The Union of Albanian Journalists, Fier District, awards a Certificate of Appreciation to the General Director of the State Police, Major General Ilir Proda, for the very good, transparent and timely cooperation between the State Police and the media, considering this cooperation as a model with European standards, in the function of the public interest.
General Director Ilir Proda hosted a meeting with a representative of the Union of Albanian Journalists, Fier District, an institutional meeting that marked a significant moment of appreciation and reflection on common achievements and challenges.
Në këtë frymë pozitive bashkëpunimi, në emër të gazetarëve të qarkut Fier, kryetari i Unionit, Vladimir Muçaj, njëkohësisht drejtor i medias online "Newsalbania", së bashku me gazetarët Mariglen Bita dhe Ervis Profka (Fieri web.com), si dhe gazetarin e mirënjohur Fatmir Popja, i cili është një nga themeluesit e Unionit të Gazetarëve Shqiptarë, i dorëzuan Drejtorit të Përgjithshëm të Policisë së Shtetit, Drejtues Madhor Ilir Proda, Çertifikatën e Mirënjohjes, me motivacionin:
“Për kontribut të veçantë në forcimin e transparencës institucionale dhe përmirësimin e ndjeshëm të marrëdhënieve dhe bashkëpunimit ndërmjet Policisë së Shtetit dhe medias. Puna juaj ka ndikuar pozitivisht në krijimin e një klime besimi, respekti dhe bashkëpunimi të ndërsjellë, duke e bërë informacionin publik më të aksesueshëm dhe komunikimin me gazetarët më efikas.”
Drejtori i Përgjithshëm Ilir Proda e cilësoi takimin si një moment të rëndësishëm dialogu dhe vlerësimi të ndërsjellë, jo vetëm me gazetarët e unionit të qarkut Fier, por me të gjithë gazetarët brenda dhe jashtë vendit që kanë interes të bashkëpunojnë dhe komunikojnë me Policinë e Shtetit, duke shprehur angazhimin e Policisë për të thelluar më tej marrëdhëniet me median, si një komponent thelbësor i forcimit të rendit dhe sigurisë publike.
Ilir Proda:
“Së pari, më lejoni t’ju shpreh mirënjohjen time të sinqertë për këtë certifikatë vlerësimi, të cilën nuk e shoh thjesht si një çmim personal, por si mirënjohje për të gjithë Policinë e Shtetit, që prej kohësh e konsideron median si një partner të domosdoshëm në përmbushjen e misionit tonë.
Gazetarët janë gur themeli i shoqërisë, ura lidhëse mes Policisë dhe qytetarëve, syri dhe veshi i tyre, por dhe pasqyra ku ne shohim punën tonë. Shpeshherë, jeni edhe oponenca konstruktive që na ndihmon të kuptojmë se ku duhet të përmirësohemi.
Transparenca dhe marrëdhënia korrekte me median nuk janë vetëm detyrim ligjor, por kulturë pune dhe bindje personale imja, të cilën e kam vendosur në themel të veprimtarisë sonë institucionale.
Ju siguroj se ky standard komunikimi dhe bashkëpunimi do të mbetet gjithmonë prioritet i Policisë së Shtetit. Ne do të jemi të hapur, të përgjegjshëm dhe të gatshëm për dialog, sepse e dimë se kur Policia dhe media punojnë së bashku me ndershmëri e besim, qytetarët fitojnë siguri, si dhe të vërtetën dhe shpresën për një shoqëri më të drejtë.
Dua t’ju siguroj gjithashtu se Policia e Shtetit tashmë ka një udhëzues dhe protokoll sigurie për mbrojtjen e gazetarëve, si dhe një pikë kontakti që ndjek në dinamikë çdo denoncim apo shqetësim tuajin. Ne jemi të angazhuar maksimalisht për sigurinë dhe mbrojtjen tuaj.”
Vladimir Muçaj:
"This assessment is a clear testament to the progress that the State Police has made in building a new institutional culture, where the media is not seen as an obstacle, but as a partner through which accurate, verified and fast information reaches the citizen. This relationship was not built by chance. It was the initiative of this branch of the Union and others in Albania, composed of journalists with many years of experience and important contributions to the national and local media, that have encouraged and consolidated this cooperation. This professional community of journalists, which recognizes the challenges and responsibilities of public information, considers it essential that cooperation with law enforcement institutions be structured, honest and beneficial to society.
We thank you very sincerely for the communication you have in general with journalists, that despite the heavy workload you have, you respond to us in real time, and this is the first time that has happened in the State Police that a Director General responds to the media in a timely manner and by addressing the persons responsible for resolving the requests of journalists. Thank you Director!”
During the meeting, there was a wide discussion on aspects that can be further improved in the media-police relationship, on the challenges in the correct reporting of criminal events, on more efficient communication in emergency situations and on increasing journalists' access to official information, without prejudice to ongoing investigations or legal processes.
A special element of the meeting was also the donation of the book by journalist Mariglen Bita, which addresses key issues of the functioning of the media and the professional challenges that accompany it in Albania.
The very friendly meeting concluded with the commitment of both parties to further strengthen cooperation between the State Police and journalists as a whole, based on the principles of transparency, institutional respect and professionalism.
