"I didn't want to leave", Skënderbeg resident speaks from the hospital: Everything was burned
The fires in Gramsh have caused extensive damage and a critical situation for residents. One of them, from the village of Skënderbegas, almost lost his life while trying to save his home and livestock, refusing to leave despite the danger. He was pulled out of the home in time and is currently in hospital after suffering from asphyxiation.
From the hospital, the resident confessed that he did not want to leave because he was worried about his wife and son, as well as the fear that everything he had built with his hard work over the years would burn down. He described how the flames were huge and had consumed everything in front of him, including homes and livestock in the village.
" I was alone, my wife and son in the hospital. I didn't want to leave, I had my house and livestock. The situation is difficult, everything has been burned, livestock and houses in the village of Skënderbegas. Some other villages have been completely burned. How is it possible that Albania can burn in two minutes.
We were watching the fires from the mountains, he came to our house. I had about 10 quintals of water at the house and the fire and I intervened to put it out ," he said.
