Danger and pesticide content/ After tangerines, Croatia also returns peppers from Albania!

On March 12, through the EU's Rapid Alert System ( RASFF ), a shipment of peppers from Albania, which had high levels of pesticides, was stopped in Croatia.
The peppers were classified as posing a high risk to the consumer due to their very high pesticide content. RASFF announced that the concern was serious.
The shipment contained flonicamid, an insecticide used for pest control in fields and greenhouses. This pesticide has a high solubility in water and can cause adverse effects in mammals, including humans, particularly in the liver and kidneys.
Despite the alert sent by RASFF, there has still been no official announcement from the Ministry of Agriculture about the handling of the shipment. Almost a month after this announcement, it remains unclear where the shipment ended up – whether it was destroyed or distributed on the Albanian market, as happened with the mandarins that were rejected by Croatia and then sold in our country.
No answers from the authorities to these questions. Meanwhile, in the case of the tangerines, several individuals were arrested, but there is still no official information about the pepper issue.
