Athens, a bomb explodes outside the offices of the railway company

A bomb exploded outside the offices of the Greek railway company "Hellenic Train" on Syngrou Avenue at 9:35 p.m.

According to information from the police, an unknown person called the newspaper "Efimerida ton Syntakton" and the website "Zoungla" to say that a bomb had been placed outside the offices and would explode in 35 minutes.

He warned both media outlets that "this is no joke."

Police cordoned off the area and stopped traffic on Syngrou Avenue from "Athanassiou Diakou" to "Kallirois" Street.

A bomb squad was on site and saw a scooter parked outside the company, locked against a pole, without license plates and with a travel bag on it.

Bomb specialists were unable to stage a controlled explosion as the bomb exploded at the time mentioned in the call.

According to police, there were no injuries.
