Prime Minister Edi Rama gave an interview to the show "Opinion" a few weeks ago, which is being broadcast tonight. The interview does not focus on current events, but on Rama's journey over 35 years of democracy.
During the interview, the show's host Blendi Fevziu showed the prime minister an interview of his from 1990. Watching this video, Rama said that he had never imagined returning to the University of Arts as the prime minister of Albania.
He further emphasized that 35 years ago, he also never wanted to get involved in politics.
"I never imagined that I could return here to this podium in the position I hold today. I never imagined that I would ever engage in politics in the everyday sense of the word. It was freedom, not political ambition. I had absolutely no desire to engage in everyday politics in the sense of engaging in a party. Of course, if I wanted to, I had the opportunity, but I had no desire to engage directly and engage in everyday politics. I saw it only as a measure of freedom that I needed and it was not by chance that the first seed of a process that then escalated outside the walls or outside the courtyard of this academy, or the institute, today they call it the University of Arts, was planted here. Because here and especially in the part that had to do with the visual arts, or the part that had to do with theater, the walls of censorship, the walls of isolation, the walls that limited freedom were felt very concretely and were felt every day ," said Rama .
During the show, some rare footage of him as a lecturer at the University of Arts was also released, which he commented on as follows.
"These kinds of chronicles were linked to the successes of the working class and agricultural cooperatives. That process had begun and there was also a kind of easy opening on the part of these newspapers, the only television of the time, in the sense that let's ask them for once," said Rama.
