RTSH in crisis, director Eni Vasili writes to Finance for additional budget: Millions of euros of abuse, I will request an audit
The director of Albanian Radio Television, Eni Vasili, says that the institution she has been leading for a few months is in crisis.
She has addressed the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, with a request for financial support of 200,000,000 lek additional from the State Budget, stating that RTSH is in a difficult financial situation. For this, Vasili has several arguments, starting with the low level, as she describes it, of the television set tariff.
Also, according to her, there is no 100% budgetary funding for the expenses of programs financed by the State Budget, while she says that there are very high values for television and sports rights, contracted for years and remaining unliquidated.
Vasili admits that changes in management staff during the period 2021-2024 have led to problematic legal expenses as a result of employees being laid off. According to the letter submitted to the Ministry of Finance, since July last year, 326,823,152 lek have been spent on legal cases, the lawsuits have been won by former employees who were injured at work or laid off.
The director of the RTSH is requesting additional budget, to be used for 'film and artistic productions of international importance', the 'RTSH Symphony Orchestra and Cinematography', 'technical projects for the introduction of new technologies'.
However, she warns that she will first request a full audit of the structure and projects of RTSH, to understand where public funds have ended up.
