ChatGPT goes down, thousands of people report problems worldwide

Thousands of people around the world have reported being unable to use the world's most popular artificial intelligence (AI) platform, ChatGPT.

Downdetector, which tracks website outages, showed that more than 10,000 people reported that the AI chatbot, created by OpenAI, was not working since 11:00 a.m., the BBC reported.

Users attempting to use it were met with a message reading "the web server reported an error."

ChatGPT's status page said the app had "experienced high error rates" and the firm was "currently working on this issue."

Although many people use the free version of the chatbot, the firm charges up to $200 per month for various membership levels.

OpenAI chief Sam Altman said in December that ChatGPT is used every week by more than 300 million people worldwide, the BBC reported .

It comes after technology firms including OpenAI pledged a $500 billion (£405 billion) investment in AI infrastructure in the US.
