What is "Captagon", the drug allegedly used by Hamas: It suppresses fear and gives euphoria

The Hamas terrorists who carried out the surprise attack on October 7 in Israel were found to be under the influence of Captagon, a synthetic amphetamine-type stimulant that was clandestinely produced in southern Europe and trafficked through Turkey to markets in the Arabian Peninsula, TV claims Israeli "Channel 12".
The pills were found in the pockets of many terrorists who lost their lives on Israeli soil, Channel 12 reports.
This stimulant drug, also known as "poor man's cocaine", allowed terrorists to carry out serious acts with a sense of calm and indifference. At the same time, it kept them very alert for long periods and cut their appetite.
The drug Captagon became famous in 2015 when it was discovered that it was used by ISIS fighters to overcome fear before carrying out terrorist operations. As the influence of terrorist organizations like ISIS waned, Lebanon and Syria took the reins and began producing and distributing drugs on a large scale.
Gaza, in particular, became a popular market for drugs, especially among young people.
Captagon belongs to the amphetamine family and was originally developed to treat attention disorders, narcolepsy and depression. Despite its highly addictive nature and potential to induce psychotic reactions, the drug continues to enjoy popularity in the Middle East due to its affordability and ease of production. In poorer countries, this drug can be bought for a dollar or two, while in richer countries, it can cost up to $20 per pill.
