Head of Ukrainian Armed Forces: Cessing territory to Russia is unacceptable!

The head of the Ukrainian armed forces expressed a clear position today that it would be "unacceptable" for Ukraine to "simply surrender territories" in any peace agreement with Russia.
General Oleksandr Syrskyi told Sky News that a "just peace" can only be achieved if fighting along the current front lines stops and negotiations are then held.
He further stressed the complete lack of trust in the Kremlin and its claims to want to end the war, accusing Vladimir Putin of using Donald Trump’s attempt to broker peace talks as a “cover” while Russian troops try to take more territory by force on the battlefield.
The rare intervention offers the clearest indication yet of Kiev’s red lines as the US tries to negotiate a settlement that, according to an initial draft, would require Kiev to hand over the entire Donbas region in the country’s east to Moscow.
President Volodymyr Zelensky, backed by the United Kingdom and other European allies, is trying to strengthen Ukraine's position on the diplomatic front.
However, President Putin has stated that Russia will either militarily occupy Donbass or Ukrainian troops will have to withdraw.
Syrskyi hinted that his country's soldiers will continue to fight if diplomacy fails, and warned that the future of all of Europe is at stake.
“Our main task is to defend our land, our country and our people,” he said in an exclusive interview in the basement of a building in eastern Ukraine.
“Of course, for us it is unacceptable to simply give up territories. What does this mean – to give up our land? That is precisely what we are fighting for: not to give up our territory,” he stressed.
