Macron visits Egypt: Hamas should have no role in governing Gaza

Hamas should have no part in governing Gaza, Emmanuel Macron made clear in statements he made on Monday during his visit to Egypt.
He said that members of the Palestinian organization "should no longer pose a threat to Israel," while reiterating his "full support for the Gaza reconstruction plan, approved by the Arab League."
The French president also stated that he is strongly opposed to any relocation or annexation of Gaza and the West Bank.
“This would be a violation of international law and a serious threat to the security of the entire region, including Israel,” he said during a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Macron and Sisi made their way through the streets of Khedivial Cairo last night. I've gotta admit, I'm genuinely impressed by the scene. LOL, look at all those people crowding around Macron! I bet he once had that kind of popularity in France. pic.twitter.com/IuBXaEkh6S

Sisi, for his part, spoke about the problems with the Houthis in the Red Sea, stressing that the tension has "negatively affected" Egypt's revenues from the Suez Canal, resulting in a loss of $7 billion in 2024.
Rebel attacks on ships in the Red Sea have led to a reduction in maritime traffic through the route and the Suez Canal, which in turn has reduced Egypt's revenue, as the country charges fees for passage through the canal.
