The second round of talks between the US and Iran on Tehran's nuclear

The second round of talks between the US and Iran on Iran's nuclear program has ended, according to the Reuters news agency, citing Iranian state television.

According to Iranian state television, a third round of talks will follow in a few days. “The climate of the talks in Rome was constructive,” Iranian media added.

It is recalled that US and Iranian delegations held talks on Tehran's nuclear energy program in Rome today, a week after the first round, which was assessed as "constructive" by both sides.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Wickoff are leading the delegations, as in the first round held in Muscat.

Araghchi stated yesterday that Iran believes it is possible to reach an agreement on the nuclear program if Washington has realistic demands.

Tehran has tried to limit expectations for a quick deal. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said he was "neither overly optimistic nor pessimistic."

For his part, Trump told reporters on Friday: "I want to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons. They can't have nuclear weapons. I want Iran to be great and prosperous."

This is the second meeting at this level since the US exited, in 2018, during Donald Trump's first term as president, from the 2015 international agreement that imposed restrictions on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the easing of some sanctions against it, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
