US Gaza peace plan, Netanyahu: Phase two is approaching, I will meet with Trump this month

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on December 7 that he would meet with US President Donald Trump this month, saying a second phase of his Gaza plan was imminent.
The meeting will discuss possible opportunities for peace and the end of the Palestinian militant group Hamas' rule in the enclave, he said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Negotiations on the next phases of Trump's plan to end the two-year war in the Palestinian enclave have continued.
The plan also included the release of Israeli hostages and the establishment of an interim Palestinian technocratic government in Gaza, overseen by an international “peace board” and supported by an international security force.
"I will hold very important conversations at the end of the month about how to ensure that the second phase is achieved," Netanyahu said.
He added that the first phase of Mr. Trump's plan was about to be completed.
The violence has calmed down, but has not stopped, since the ceasefire in Gaza came into effect on October 10.
Since the ceasefire began, Hamas has returned all 20 live hostages and 27 bodies in exchange for about 2,000 Palestinian detainees and prisoners. The body of one hostage still remains in Gaza.
