US-Russia/EU Summit: Peace can only be achieved with Ukraine at the table

The EU has stated that it supports peace negotiations to end the Russian war in Ukraine, but reiterates that Ukraine must be present at the negotiating table where it can make independent and sovereign decisions.
The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump has been announced to take place on August 15 in Alaska.
However, European leaders who have spoken out in favor of peace have called for the EU and Ukraine to be present at the meeting.
France, Germany and Britain also demand that any territorial concessions by Kiev be accompanied by unwavering security guarantees, including Ukraine's eventual accession to NATO.
"The EU continues to support peace negotiations to end Russia's war of aggression, with Ukraine at the table and in which Ukraine can make independent and sovereign decisions, which the EU will support," a European Commission spokesperson told ANSA regarding the Trump-Putin summit and possible territorial concessions by Ukraine.
