Tragic in the Swiss Alps, avalanche takes the lives of two Italian climbers

A tragic event has occurred in the Swiss Alps, where two young climbers from Lombardy lost their lives as a result of an avalanche over the weekend.

The victims are a 29-year-old woman, Giorgia Rota from Cesano Maderno (Brianza), and a 30-year-old man, Alessandro Aresi from Lacchiarella (in the Milan area).

According to the Swiss cantonal police, the incident occurred on the Alphubel peak, near the town of Täsch, at an altitude of about 4,000 meters above sea level, as the pair were climbing towards the summit.

Authorities have confirmed the identities of the victims after contacting their families, who had traveled to the scene a few days earlier after losing contact with them.

A touching post by Giorgia Rota on social media, made a few days before the tragedy, shows a photo of the pair during a previous climb, accompanied by the words: "Alessandro, super partner for a super climb."

The event has shocked the alpine community and the victims' friends, once again bringing to attention the dangers posed by extreme sports in difficult mountain conditions.
