Robert Pickton, the psychopath who killed 49 women and threw their bodies to pigs, is killed in prison

Canadian serial killer Robert Pickton has died aged 74 after being attacked in the prison where he was serving a life sentence by another inmate. The notorious killer took female victims to his pig farm near Vancouver in the late 1990s and fed their bodies to the animals.

Pickton, an inmate at the Port-Cartier Institution in Quebec province, died in hospital of injuries sustained in the May 19 attack that involved another inmate. He was one of Canada's most notorious serial killers and his case made international headlines.
Robert 'Willie' Pickton was convicted of six counts of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison in 2007, with a maximum non-parole period of 25 years, after being accused of killing 26 women. Police began searching Pickton Farm in the Vancouver suburb of Port Coquitlam more than 22 years ago.
The remains and DNA of 33 women were found on the farm. Health officials once issued a tainted meat advisory for neighbors who may have purchased pork from Pickton's farm, out of concern that the meat may contain human remains.
Vancouver police were criticized for not taking the cases seriously because many of the missing were sex workers or drug users.
