32 bodies discovered in secret grave in Mexico, half of them identified

At least 32 bodies were found on a property in the municipality of Irapuato in Mexico and nearly half of them have been identified.
The Guanajuato state prosecutor's office said Monday through X that the bodies were found in secret graves in the community of La Calera on the north side of Irapuato, about 320 kilometers (200 miles) northwest of Mexico City, foreign media write.
Forensic teams had been working at the site since July 30, prosecutors said. Authorities were working to identify the remaining bodies.
The revelation came less than two months after a mass shooting at a street party in Irapuato that left 12 people dead.
Guanajuato has suffered ongoing violence in recent years, as the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel battles the local Santa Rosa de Lima organized crime group.
The state recorded more than 1,500 murders from January to July.
Organized crime groups often bury their victims in clandestine graves. The current number of missing persons is nearly 132,000.
