November 28 is the day when we remember that the Albanian state, "Free and Undivided Albania", was founded on the vision, determination and sacrifice of statesmen who put the national interest before any personal ambition.

Ismail Qemali, his delegates and collaborators, acted in extremely difficult circumstances: without security, without funds, without a functional administration, under the threat of territorial fragmentation and without adequate international support. Nevertheless, they proclaimed a historic state-forming act.

Today, more than a century after the founding of the Albanian state, we have a state, but often captured by a corrupt political elite; we have institutions, but under pressure to serve the personal power of a handful of people, not the public interest.

We have a Constitution, but it risks degrading from the fundamental law of the state into a formal mechanism under the pressure of political power and private interests, losing its primary role: guaranteeing constitutional order, the rule of law, and protecting the public interest.

And unlike 103 years ago, today Albania has the support of the European Union and strategic partners the US and the United Kingdom.

But, unfortunately, unlike 103 years ago, it is charlatans who govern and dominate politics and think only about the next elections, protecting narrow interests, strengthening personal power, and treating this country as their property, as a commodity without an owner.

This reality is not just sad — it's shameful.

The fathers of the nation fought for a homeland and a vision of the future that they themselves would never live out, but that would serve the generations that would come after. This is their political testament. And it is incomparable to the reality and political theater we see today.

Albania's challenge today is not only economic and social, but above all moral.
The greatest honor for the founders of the Albanian state is to show the same courage, honesty, integrity and to have the same dedication and sacrifice for the national interest. Only then will the Independence Day not remain simply a memory of the past, but will become hope for the future.

Albania needs a political class and leadership that works for an Albania that it may not live by itself, but that will serve future generations. It needs a leadership that does not think about its power in the next 5 years, but that has the vision to build the Albania of the next 50 years on the horizon that not everyone can see.

Happy November 28th!???????
