"I will resign as President"/ Vučić reveals the move, what is expected to happen in Serbia
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he plans to resign from the presidency within three to four months and announced that the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) will hold a large rally in Belgrade on June 27 to present part of its election platform.
Speaking on TV Prva, Vučić reiterated that he would step down from the presidency, but said he could not yet say whether Serbia would hold only early presidential elections or presidential and parliamentary elections, "N1" reports.
He added that the decision will be made by the relevant state institutions.
Vučić also announced that the SNS will organize a rally in front of the National Assembly building in Belgrade on June 27, where it will reveal the name of its electoral list, campaign slogans and part of its program ahead of the upcoming elections.
The announcement comes after months of student-led protests sparked by the collapse of a train station canopy in Novi Sad, which killed 16 people. The student movement officially called for early parliamentary elections in May last year and announced plans to participate with its own electoral list.
