Fire in Spain out of control, authorities on alert

The wildfire that broke out on Friday in Herbon, in Padron (A Coruna), Spain, remains active and has already burned around 330 hectares.

Authorities have declared a level 2 alert and about ten homes remain evacuated.

Although the fire appeared to be stabilizing in the morning, high temperatures above 30°C and wind worsened the situation as the day progressed.

"There is a lot of wind, which we didn't have in the winter," said the mayor of Padron, Anxo Rei Arca.

So far, authorities have not recorded any casualties or damage to homes, although the fire's proximity to several residential areas is keeping the alert level high.

This fire comes amid growing concern about forest fires in Galicia.
