Why have all the corrupt gathered together against Lulzim Basha?

If there is one politician who has been attacked more than anyone else on the Albanian political scene over the past decade, it is Lulzim Basha. The attacks on him have come not only from natural political opponents, but also from former allies, oligarch-controlled media outlets, and even elements of the dark world of organized crime. It is a picture that raises a fundamental question: Why have all the corrupt gathered together against Lulzim Basha?
From the first day Basha took the step to strongly support new justice institutions such as SPAK, as well as initiatives for the vetting of politicians and earlier the decriminalization of politics, he became a serious threat to the old transition class. A class that, despite different party affiliations, shares a common interest: protection from justice.
Precisely for this reason, the accusations of Edi Rama and the Socialist Party have been recycled in the same way by Sali Berisha and his media henchmen. It is an alliance that is not united by political conviction, but by the fear of justice and the power of a clean leadership that aims to free politics from the shadows of corruption and links to crime.
In this synchronized offensive against Basha, the oligarch media have not been absent either, who for years have been feeding on the dark connections with the government and the old politics, receiving tenders and building permits from Edi Rama and adding fuel to the fire of strife in the opposition ranks, promoting and helping Berisha to usurp the opposition. These are the same media that are silent about the corruption affairs and the million-euro scandals, but find endless space to attack Lulzim Basha. These are the same media that have 'erased' his political activity from the screen, but in their analyses they only deal with what he is doing 'badly'.
Organized crime and gangs, which were used as tools of pressure and manipulation by the SP and Berisha in the elections, as documented by many sources in the case of the organization of 'Foltores' or in the cases of Elbasan, Durrës and elsewhere in these elections, are also in a frightening tune against Basha. This is another proof that the only threat to their rotten power comes from an alternative politics, which has the expertise and the necessary international connections, which in any case is there to rival them and to show them the opposite.
And yet, in the face of this orchestrated wave of attacks and smears, Lulzim Basha has managed to survive, remain calm, and move forward with a clear vision for the future. A positive result in the May 11 elections will be more than just an electoral victory for him — it will be a new political fact, a clear message that Albanians are ready for a different tomorrow and for honest governance.
And this is what the corrupt fear: the arrival of a time when no one is above the law.
