DIVA 2024/ 5 more days to go, 85 thousand citizens have submitted their income tax returns so far! After March 31, fines begin

March 31 is the deadline to submit the income statement for 2024. The obligation applies to all employees who had a gross monthly salary of over 100 thousand lek during the previous year (over 1.2 million lek per year), dual employees, and those who have untaxed income of up to 50 thousand lek earned from daily rental income, Air Bnb, or booking.
"We have about 140 thousand individuals who are employed or dual-employed. There are also other individuals who, if they have gross income over 50 thousand lek per year, have the obligation to submit DIVA. This income may have been derived from rentals, or various platforms such as booking or AirBNB. The deadline for DIVA is provided for in the law and I do not believe that there will be an extension of this deadline," said Çelmeta.
Director of Business Processes at the General Directorate of Taxes Rozana Çelmeta said on Report TV that so far 60% of individuals who have this obligation have submitted DIVA, but no extension of the declaration deadline is expected.
"We are over 60% of the individuals who have declared themselves divas, because so far there have been over 85 thousand declarations submitted," Çelmeta said on the show "Today Live in Albania" by journalist Nertil Agalliu.
But what will happen to those taxpayers who do not submit their declaration by March 31?
"Individuals who will declare after April 1 will also have to pay a fine for late declaration, and if they are also subject to payments, they will have another fine for late declaration," said Çelmeta.
Anyone who does not submit the declaration is fined 3 thousand lek, to which interest and late payment interest are also attached. Completing this declaration serves the Tax Administration to conduct checks for tax evasion and to investigate assets.
