Erion Braçe is outraged by the prices: Mashurkas 600 lek, peas 480,

Socialist MP Erion Braçe reacted to the prices of fruits and vegetables in Tirana, saying that today he noticed the sales signs in some of the businesses selling on the roadside and was horrified.

Some of the prices he lists are: "tomatoes start at 300 lek and reach up to 340 lek per kilogram; small tomatoes, foreign of course, are 640 lek per kilogram; red pepper has reached 340 lek per kilogram and carrots have reached 140 and even 150 lek per kilogram."

He also says that "substandard eggplant" has reached 320 lek per kilogram, while peas are being sold for 480 lek and mashurkas for 600 lek per kilogram.

According to MP Erion Braçe, the abuse is scandalous and traders who sell in small roadside stalls, on sidewalks, do not even issue tax receipts. According to him, these prices are recorded in the cheapest trading points, hinting that in other areas, prices may be higher.

"Meanwhile; I've been asking the municipal police for a year to free up half of the sidewalk that is being taken from the elderly who move here and are robbed at these prices; but apparently the municipal police have found understanding with everyone here; short of that: angry neighbors," he concludes.
