Residents affected by the "TID Durrës" project have issued a public statement expressing their opposition to the way the project is being implemented and the alternatives offered by the institutions.
According to them, the project has shortcomings and procedural violations. They claim that there are properties not included in the expropriation list or cases without accurate expertise and that they cannot accept the implementation of a project with legal violations.
Residents are demanding an extension of the legal deadlines for the project's execution and an immediate suspension of the demolitions.
On the contrary, they warn of an escalation of the protest and an intensification of the public and institutional response, emphasizing that communications at the international level have begun and will continue in defense of their rights and the principles of the rule of law.
Following the discussion held with institutional representatives, the Prime Minister and the Mayor of Durrës, we feel obliged to make public our position as residents affected by the project.
During the meeting, it was clearly stated that the project will definitely be implemented and that there will be no changes to it.
The alternatives we were offered are:
* accept a (slightly higher) expropriation price;
* to move to suburban areas determined by them;
* or we can all gather in a single facility, chosen by the Municipality.
We oppose this approach.
The project has shortcomings and procedural violations. There are properties not included in the expropriation list or without accurate expertise. We cannot accept a project with violations just because it has been decided to be implemented.
* The Prime Minister's proposals have not been agreed with us.
* The reference price is a floor price.
* Relocation, even if accepted by the residents, must be done with their own consent.
* So far, the proposals remain just words.
– Postponement of legal deadlines for project execution;
– Full legal review of each case, one by one.
Otherwise, we will be forced to escalate the protest and intensify our public and institutional response. Our communications at the international level have already been carried out and will continue, in defense of our rights and the principles of the rule of law.
We only demand legality and respect for our property rights.
