Mar Galcerán, member of the People's Party in Spain and current secretary of the Valencia area of care for people with different abilities, will officially become the first person with Down syndrome to take a seat in the Spanish parliament as a regional deputy in Les Corts.
A statement from the Popular Party of Valencia said that Galcerán is a "symbol" and an "example" for people with special abilities "how in life you can achieve what you set out to do". In this sense, Galcerán himself wanted to send a positive message to everyone who supports him. "I ask you to work, not to give up anything because you can get what you want. Mar Galcerán took number 20 on the PP list in the province of Valencia in the last regional elections. Her entrance as a regional deputy occurs due to the resignation of the PP deputies who jump to the second level of the Consell and who leave the minutes in Corts to focus on the work in the Executive. According to the party, his entry into Corts is "one more step to ensure that social and work inclusion is a real success."
