The Minister of Defense of Montenegro confirms the arrest of 2 soldiers in Kosovo

The Minister of Defense of Montenegro, Dragan Krapovič, has announced that two of the three people arrested three days ago in Kosovo for the inscription "Kosovo is Serbia", are members of the Montenegrin army.
"At this moment, the two of them are officially on medical leave and they are good and exemplary members of the army," Mr. Krapovič said on Wednesday.
He confirmed that the two arrested members of the Montenegrin army "have been in the system for a long time, one since 2011 and the other since 2022".
The Kosovo police arrested three people from Nikshiçi because the number plates of the vehicle in which they had gone to the monastery of Deçan on November 24 had the inscription "Kosovo is Serbia".
Two days after they were arrested, the Basic Court in Peja ordered a month's detention for 34-year-old Rajko Krivokapic, 24-year-old Marinko Jovanovic, and 24-year-old Dragut Llalatovic.
The prosecutor in Peja accuses them of the criminal offense of "inciting hatred and intolerance".
The inscriptions that present Kosovo as part of Serbia are treated by the Kosovar authorities as provocation and incitement of national hatred.
State institutions have not commented on the arrest of three young men from Montenegro.
The leader of the Liberal Party in the opposition, Vatroslav Belan, criticized the attitude of the Minister of Defense of Montenegro, who, according to him, with this statement "does not respect all obligations and agreements undertaken internationally" and "credible membership in NATO".
Ironically, he said that "members of the Ministry of Defense are taking 'medical leave' to return Kosovo to Serbia".
The pro-Serbian and pro-Russian political parties in Montenegro, as well as the Serbian Orthodox Church, do not recognize Kosovo as an independent state, but consider it a territory of Serbia.
Montenegro recognized Kosovo's independence in 2008, during the government of the Democratic Party of Socialists of former President Milo Djukanovic, which was ousted from power in August 2020.
