Why are countries from the Balkans withdrawing from Eurovision?

After Montenegro and North Macedonia officially announced that they will not compete in next year's Eurovision, due to the high cost of participation, Bulgaria and Bosnia and Herzegovina also confirmed that they will not participate.
Broadcasters pay a fee to participate in the contest, but the amount varies depending on the size of the country. After the exclusion of Russia from this competition, due to the war in Ukraine some countries have been asked to pay more.
The public radio and television of North Macedonia, MRT, gave the current economic situation as the reason for canceling participation in the ESC:
"Macedonia will not participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, due to the economic and energy crisis and high costs. The decision to withdraw from the ESC applies to this year and we will see what happens in the future. "
Even the public Radio and Television of Bosnia-Herzegovina, BHRT, gave economic reasons as the reason for canceling participation in the ESC.
And the tendency of the public Radio and Television of Bulgaria, BNT, is relatively clear:
"Bulgaria will not participate in ESC 2023 and probably not even in future editions. After analysis, it was decided that this program is no longer important for the Bulgarian Public Radio and Television."/DW
