Vjosa Osmani receives the French ambassador, asks for the lifting of EU measures against Kosovo

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received today the Ambassador of France, Olivier Guerot, with whom she discussed the latest developments in the country and preparations for the early elections on December 28.

Osmani stressed the importance of the smooth running of the electoral process, noting that “Kosovo is already an example in respecting the highest democratic standards.” She also spoke about the assumption of office by new mayors of municipalities, including those in the north, a process that took place today.

Osmani urgently called for the lifting of the EU measures, describing them as unfair and without any reason, which are harming the interests of citizens.

“President Osmani received in a meeting the Ambassador of France to Kosovo, Mr. Olivier Guérot. The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received in a meeting today the Ambassador of the French Republic to Kosovo, Mr. Olivier Guérot.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the country, as well as the process of preparing for the early national elections to be held on December 28. The President stressed the importance of the smooth conduct of the electoral process and respecting the highest democratic standards, for which Kosovo is already an example. The meeting also discussed the assumption of office of the elected mayors of Kosovo municipalities, including municipalities in the north of the country, a process that was completed today.
The President stressed the urgency of lifting the EU measures that are unjustly and without any reason still in force and are harming the interests of all citizens, without distinction.

Furthermore, President Osmani reiterated the commitment of the Republic of Kosovo to strengthening the interstate partnership between Kosovo and France. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting," the Presidency's announcement states.
