"Hubris" syndrome - a special personality disorder

"Hubris" syndrome is a disorder that has recently been described by Lord David Owen in the scientific journal "Brain". The pattern is similar to that of the other three personality disorders—narcissistic, histrionic, and antisocial. The English doctor and politician describes the syndrome with these characteristics: - arrogant behavior, inspired by conceit, which is accompanied by a maniacal preoccupation with the image of oneself. While the term Hubris actually comes from Greek and means; conceit, arrogance and pride. According to psychologists, this mental frame in most cases happens to people who are led and have power, and especially when this power lasts for a long time and this power is added to some success. So it is the "drunkenness of power" that promotes the outbreak of the syndrome, together with the genetic predisposition.

Sipas një studimi të udhëhequr nga Owen dhe Davidson, në House of Lords të Londrës, publikuar në 2019, kur tiparet negativë të sindromës shfaqen tek liderët politikë, aftësia për të marrë vendime kompromentohet seriozisht duke çuar në pasoja katastrofike ne sferat politike dhe sociale.
