"He sought to reconcile democratization with the preservation of power", Preç Zogaj explains Ramiz Ali's movements in December 1990

Preç Zogaj, participant in the December 1990 Movement and co-founder of the Democratic Party, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, explaining the background behind the student movement, stated that the last former communist president, Ramiz Alia, sought the democratization of the country while preserving power for his people.
"Albania was the first after the others, because Albania was the most closed country, even though other communist countries were coming in and out of each other and it was alone.
We have to be, that is, accept it, we don't regret it, if it were just Albania, it couldn't have been any other way in my opinion, lonely, closed, for the first time Albania became neither east nor west that year.
So, these events that I mentioned have something epic, that is, realistic. Those days are of ordinary people.
The December Movement had a project of democracy and Ramiz had no way of holding it together, but he sought to reconcile democratization with the preservation of power, with the transfer of power back to the people.
Alia was a president who had responsibility for the country. The radicals of the 25th hour, who were not at all, have even accused me of being soft on Ramiz Alia. He was responsible for the country. They negotiated and negotiations are not done like in the trenches. Albania has a negotiated plurality, but the students imposed it.
"He threw his fate into the student cart. Even in Poland, which has had 7 years of resistance, pluralism was born through negotiation," said Zogaj.
