Arta Dade rejects Rama's invitation to the 35th anniversary of the

Former MP and former Foreign Minister, Arta Dade, has rejected the invitation of Socialist leader Edi Rama to participate in the event that will be held today in 'Italia' Square for the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Party. She openly opposed it, criticizing developments within the Socialist Party and the organization of an "anti-rally", as she calls it. Dade emphasizes that the real socialists, according to her, are not found in the activities organized from above, but in the square where the youth protest for dignity and social rights has been taking place for 13 days.

In a reaction to the newspaper Dita, she states that the Socialist Party has not historically been a party of organized counter-protests, but a political force that was born as a "vanguard of change" and has been at the forefront of important historical developments in the country.

In the statement, Dade sharply criticizes the current way the SP functions, describing the current situation as an “alienation” of the party and accusing it of corruption, clientelism and arrogance of power. She also mentions that the youth protest is not against the left, but represents social demands and equality, describing it as a call for the return of left-wing values.

Dade also criticizes former SP officials who, according to her, are lining up in the "anti-meeting", describing them as motivated by personal interests and not by political principles. In conclusion, she calls for a "reborn left", with morality, integrity and close to citizens, emphasizing that "the hour of return has struck".

Arta Dades' reaction
Today, true socialists, those who grew up with the ideals of social justice, are not found in the anti-rally called "from above". They are where the spirit of the left has always been, in the square where for 13 days the youth has been protesting for dignity. The Socialist Party has never been the party of counter-protests organized with administration and pressure. It was born as the vanguard of change and has known how to be, even in the following years, at the forefront of every historical turning point of the country. That square that Mr. Rama seeks to fill today does not represent its history, but its alienation.

My place today is where I have always been and I know that today I speak on behalf of every socialist who has not sold his memory. True socialists have been at the forefront of the confrontations in the darkest years of transition, in '92, in '94, in the tragic year '97, and on that bloody January 21 that followed the state crime of Gërdec. We were there in front of Sali Berisha and his regime. The tragedy is that the system we fought against was not destroyed. It was cemented by the one who has occupied the leadership of the Socialist Party today. My rejection today is towards him and towards the anti-corruption and facade rallies, which bow only to money and power, and forget the blood spilled on the boulevard.

Mr. Rama is trying to sell the youth revolt as a destabilizing movement, but the truth is quite different. Above all, this protest is not against the left. On the contrary, it has deeply leftist and social demands, demands for equality, for opportunities, for the protection of those who have been neglected by this government. So this is also a revolt against the occupation of the left. What happened with the Democratic Party in '90, when Sali Berisha turned it into private property and occupied the right, is being repeated symmetrically today with the Socialist Party. This occupation must end.

No other political force in the modern history of Albania has done more for statehood and progress than the Socialist Party. But recently, dangerous tumors have grown in the body of this party, galloping corruption, clientelism and, most recently, the arrogance of absolute power. ?The historical difference of the SP has been its ability to self-correct. True socialists have purified themselves through will, ideals and a critical voice, not through servile applause at fake anti-rallies. ?In this great epochal division, it is painful and disappointing to see some former representatives of the Socialist Party, people with whom we have shared difficult battles, who will today line up at that anti-rally. You really feel sorry for their moral decline. ?It is sad to see how these figures who once had a voice, today accept to be used as decoration, driven by small, petty interests of the moment.

They no longer represent anything but their personal compromise with evil. By accepting to become a shield for corruption, they have surrendered their dignity before the history of this party, choosing to be on the wrong side of the square and of time. Albania today needs a reborn left on its initial ideals. It needs a platform declaration to return the ideological home of the left to the people. It needs a political organization with morality, integrity and with an eye on the people, not on their pockets.

The hour of this comeback has struck!
