"Berisha invited me, but I didn't go"/ Lubonja: A new culture is

Analyst Fatos Lubonja commented on the roundtable called by Sali Berisha with small opposition parties and representatives of civil society on the show "Kjo Javë" tonight, expressing strong skepticism about its political purpose and effect.

According to Lubonja, the Democratic Party remains a "person-party", built around the figure of the leader, which according to him makes it impossible to guarantee a real change of power or the restoration of democracy in the country.

Lubonja emphasized that the only goal that can truly unite different political forces is the restoration of democracy, beyond left-right divisions.

"For me, the goal that can unite a table of different parties is the restoration of democracy. From an autocratic regime to a democratic regime," he said, adding that Albanian society today no longer has this sensitivity.

According to him, the round table called by Berisha risks serving more as a political facade, promoting a formal union, without real solutions.

"If you go there, the message is: 'here they all came together,' and you promote a union that you essentially oppose," Lubonja emphasized.

Lubonja: " I had an invitation. I didn't go. Someone tells me you talked about unity, this is an attempt at unity. But I'm still for unity but I conceive it a little differently. In a different culture. I'm against it, if you look at everyone, not just Berisha, even the little ones say come on, unite around me, around Skanderbeg, around the leader. I'm against this approach. We really need unity. Even Lapaj says come here.

I am for a union that eliminates personalization, Skanderbeg. Introduce as much as possible a movement of new people who enter this game. It is an old culture, even more so when Sali Berisha seeks union. Berisha, Rama Fatos Nano or Meta, are people who say unite around me and come to power and do the opposite of what they said.

I want guarantees when I give support, it's like getting on a ship and we're going in the same direction together. Not who will go left then I throw them off the ship. The unity must come around many figures. I also have a story, in 1997, a forum for democracy was formed where there were many parties, associations that did not have a big figure. I don't want Sali Berisha to invite me. I want a commission to be created that they create and this commission to invite me, then I can come."
