"Berisha should be voted into membership", Murrizi: If the race for DP chairman opens, I will be a candidate

The need for reform of the Democratic Party and a change in its leadership is also acknowledged by Myslim Murrizi. As a member of the National Council of the Democratic Party, he claims in an interview with A2CNN that the responsibility for the defeat on May 11th does not lie solely with Berisha, therefore he proposes holding an extraordinary Assembly to analyze the situation and reformat the leadership structures.
"The DP in its public statements, but also in Mr. Berisha's statements, has said that they will wait for the OSCE/ODIHR report and will gather. But I think it is within limits, since the Assembly was held in April, but there is nothing wrong with holding an extraordinary Assembly to compose another National Council and another Presidency, it must move. Responsibility cannot be assigned to an individual," said Murrizi.
The vice-presidents, the secretariat and the head of the National Council, according to him, must be held accountable, but he demands concrete decisions from the political leaders of the regions, writes A2 CNN.
"All political leaders have responsibilities, those who requested it or were part of the bargain when Berisha was under arrest, and have obtained the result that the closed list, if they have any morals, should resign as political leaders, and should even consider their mandate," said Murrizi.
He does not consider the resignation of leader Sali Berisha, also opposing the "Basha article" that sanctions the removal of the leader in the event of losing the elections. According to him, the solution could be a vote of confidence in the membership, returning to the statute of December 1990.
"I have been in the DP since December 8, 1990 and these articles with names of individuals drafted in emotional conditions, they have also introduced the names of Bardhi, Noka, Gjekmarkaj, Murrizi, these are ridiculous. The DP statute, the best model is the one drafted on December 12, 1990 and for me it should pass a vote of confidence," said Murrizi.
But he once again shows that he has ambitions within the ranks of the Democratic Party, announcing his candidacy if there are leadership elections in the blue seat.
"If the race opens, if there is a race for party leader, I, as well as others, will consider participating in the race, since it is not by appointment. But if Berisha withdraws, and it will not affect the race, be convinced that it will be a strong race with full names and I do not think that he is suffering for names for leader," said Murrizi.
But what would he bring as president that the Democrats lack?
"There is no pure right-wing party, if I had it in my hands, I would do it this way."
