'Gas chamber for Albanians'/ Scandalous call in the presence of heads of state in RMV

A serious incident with nationalist overtones and hate speech against Albanians occurred during the pre-qualification match for the Basketball World Cup between North Macedonia and Romania, held on Saturday in the city of Kumanovo.
In the presence of top state leaders – including Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Kumanovo Mayor Maksim Dimitrievski, Foreign Minister Pancho Toshkovski, and Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Stoilkovic – some of the fans in the stands made open anti-Albanian slogans, without any intervention from the authorities.
" Let the damned Albanians understand, the Macedonian name will not disappear. Macedonia, pure, pure, pure " – was one of the refrains that was clearly heard during the challenge, according to reports from local media.
The scandal didn't end there. During the game, more serious chants were also heard, such as "A good Albanian is a dead Albanian" and "Gas chamber for Albanians," bringing back memories of dark and dangerous rhetoric from European history.
The incident has prompted strong reactions on social media, while the calls were condemned by the authorities a day later. First Deputy Prime Minister Izet Mexhiti called for the case to be investigated.
" I strongly condemn the racist and anti-Albanian chants heard during the basketball match in Kumanovo. Insulting words and songs that incite hatred have no place in our state and society. They constitute an attack on the coexistence and equality that make North Macedonia unique ," said Mejti.
The leader of the "Besa" party, Bilall Kasami, condemning the call, said that a state like North Macedonia is not an ethnic reserve, but a cultural mosaic that must be built with a common spirit.
“What happened in Kumanovo is not just a moment of shame for sport, but a blow to the most fundamental idea of citizenship: that we are different, but equal. Racist insults are not “spontaneous expressions of discontent”, but primitive rages that seek a place in a time that does not belong to them” , said Kasami, Mayor of Tetovo.
Even the ruling VMRO-DPMNE has condemned the calls, describing them as prepared by criminal structures that want to cover their dirty activities with hatred and division.
"We condemn every nationalist attack and hate speech, regardless of where they come from. This only suits the political currents and parties that have been sowing hatred against each other for years ," said Brane Petrushevski, MP from VMRO-DPMNE.
The actions have also been condemned by the opposition. Arben Taravari has described them as calls to which the Prime Minister dares not remain silent.
" Yesterday in Kumanovo, at a basketball match, in the presence of Prime Minister Mickovski, representatives of VLEN, Minister of Internal Affairs Toshkovski and other government officials, we, Albanians, had our mother, family, origin, tribe and seed cursed in chorus by Macedonian fans! " said Arben Taravari, Chairman of the Alliance for Albanians.
While DUI demanded the resignation of two deputy ministers from the ranks of VLEN.
" DUI demands political responsibility for the scandal in Kumanovo: Astrit Iseni and Safije Sadiki Shaini should resign. At the same time, we demand that all Albanian representatives in the Government who are in key executive positions publicly distance themselves from this unacceptable act and raise this issue at the next Government meeting ," the DUI stressed.
Alsat writes that the calls were also condemned by other political entities, as well as the Basketball Federation, demanding accountability from the authorities and an investigation into the case.
