The only one who was allowed to run for the leadership of the DP/ Who is the doctor Mereme Sela: I have never been given a leadership role, but I have a lot of respect for Berisha!

In the race for the new leader of the Democratic Party, the only name registered against Sali Berisha is Mereme Sela, the QSUT doctor, who has also received the "blessing" of Flamur Noka, the Secretary General of the DP.

Sela is not a well-known political figure nor part of the Democrats' leadership structures, and she herself has admitted this. However, this fact has not prevented her from receiving Noka's positive response.

"I have never been given a leadership role," she said after submitting her candidacy today at the blue headquarters, and emphasized that she is running with the idea of ​​a new figure in politics.

Meanwhile, Noka has stated: " Mereme Sela is a democrat, she is a member of the party. Fulfilling the criteria is a matter for the institutions, but she is a democrat. To be part of the DP, you must first be a democrat and not serve Rama, but the democrats."

Mereme Sela said that she has been a member of the Democratic Party since 2014 , while in last year's primaries in Durrës, she received only 43 votes.

"I have been in the DP since 2014. Why did I receive 43 votes in the DP primaries? I made my complaints about the votes that... how they were received in the Durrës Region, and it's not like anyone put water on the fire to call me, even for the smallest complaint that I made. Even in the Durrës primaries, I asked that each candidate present his program. Of all the candidates, I was the only one who wrote to the group that it would be good to gather before the membership, to get to know us about the contributions. I am running for president of the Democratic Party and if the people are interested in health, education, children, I am one of the people with all the right background"

While asked by journalists about the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, she said:  "I have a lot of respect for the Doctor because I have him as a colleague, a professor. I have the battle: if the people and the membership are interested in a person with a clean, unblemished figure, without any kind of impact on all Albanians, it's me. If they want, let them vote for me. The two main pillars are health and education."
