The meeting of the parties with Albulena Haxhiu concludes, June 7 is proposed as the election date
The meeting of the Acting President, Albulena Haxhiu, with political parties regarding the election date has concluded.
At this meeting, June 7 was seen as the most appropriate date for holding the elections.
PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza said that PDK will run as a party in these elections, but that there will be new names and other figures within the list.
"PDK will go to the elections, the PDK party list, within the list there will be innovations and other names and figures," he told reporters.
LDK member Jehona Lushaku-Sadriu said after the meeting that as a party they had agreed that the date would be June 7, given that the CEC had also requested such a date due to the mobilization for organizing the elections.
"As LDK, we gave the opinion that within the framework, June 7 should be announced as the date of the elections, which was a justification that the CEC requested, namely that it needs more mobilization to organize the elections. We agree with the date of June 7", said Lushaku-Sadriu.
Ardian Gjini of AAK said that at the meeting there was agreement that the election date would be June 7.
"From what we saw in the meeting with Haxhiu, there is an agreement that the election date will be June 7, and we agreed even though we did not have a preference. The elections are a chance for the country, even though few people have wanted them now. We are getting ready to give Kosovo what it needs. The people of Kosovo must take advantage of this chance of the elections on June 7," Gjini told reporters.
This meeting comes after the Presidency announced that Haxhiu has coordinated with the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Kreshnik Radoniqi, regarding institutional preparations for organizing the elections.
Kosovo is heading to new parliamentary elections after the Assembly failed to elect a president within the constitutional deadline of 34 days, which ended at midnight on Tuesday.
Based on the Constitutional Court's ruling, the Assembly is automatically dissolved if the president is not elected within this deadline.
Haxhiu has stated that the elections will be announced within the constitutional deadline, while after consultations with political parties, the voting date is expected to be set.
According to legal deadlines, elections must be held within 45 days, with June 7th being the latest possible date for holding them.
