The lobbyist who sold Berisha as a pensioner corrects his papers in DASH: He is

The lobbying company contracted by the Democratic Party ahead of the May 11 elections has changed the letter it sent to the US Department of State on July 22, arguing that Sali Berisha is no longer an active politician and as such he should no longer have the non grata status imposed by the US State Department.

While they sold him to senior American officials as a pensioner to remove his wife's name, Berisha's lobbyists only eight days later changed the first version of the letter, now calling him active in politics, but not in the Government.

After the publication of this news by Top Channel, Continental Strategy rushed to present another profile of Berisha, this time as a popular opposition leader and active in the region.

“This corrected report corrects a previous version. The corrected version now accurately reflects that, while Mr. Berisha does not currently hold any government position, he remains an active political figure in the region and the current popular leader of the opposition party in Albania, something the previous version had correctly noted on page 15. The full content of the report remains undisputed, which is that Mr. Berisha and his family were never intended to be targeted, his designation was not justified, and the removal of this designation is supported by both the facts and the law and is in the best interest of the United States and the Albanian people ,” the letter sent by the lobbying firm Continental Strategy to the US Department of State states.

The designation of Sali Berisha as an "inactive" politician in the first letter attracted the attention of public opinion, in circumstances where the opposition leader appears in the media every day to dismantle what he calls the electoral farce of May 11, while continuing to control the Democratic Party without any sign that he may resign.

However, this designation lasted only eight days, until the lobbying company amended the first letter, now calling Berisha active in politics, but without a government position.

Continental Strategy is an American consulting and lobbying firm with close ties to figures in the Republican Party's political network and Donald Trump's team. For the Democratic Party of Albania (DP), the official relationship with this firm consists of a long-term lobbying contract, worth up to $6 million, and political strategy services to improve the international image and lobby in Washington in favor of the DP.

The Section 7031(c) designation of former President and Prime Minister of Albania, Sali Berisha, should be lifted immediately. This designation was politically motivated, without factual basis, harmed U.S. foreign policy interests, and contributed to the deterioration of the situation in Albania, which critics now describe as a “narco-state.” While democracy in Albania is under serious threat and Berisha is no longer an active political figure, lifting the designation would restore American neutrality and credibility in the region.
