Gërdec Massacre, Geraldo Durda: Brother was killed at home, Fatmir Mediu the only one who won politically

Geraldo Durda, brother of Edison Durda, the 6-year-old who died 18 years ago in Gërdec, was invited to the show “The Unexposed” on MCN TV. He talked about March 15, 2008, when the explosion occurred that left 26 people dead and over 300 injured, stating that his brother was killed at home and justice has not yet been served. He accused Fatmir Mediu of having politically benefited from this tragedy.
"On the day of the explosion, I was not in Gërdec, but in Durrës. I was finishing training with "Teuta" and on my way back, I was informed by my father that Gërdec had exploded. From that moment on, I left football and dedicated myself to justice.
I will deal with this matter, I will not give up. We did not owe anyone anything. He was killed in our house.
Justice has gone all the way to Strasbourg to demand our rights, but has justice been served for Gërdec?
The fact that we are talking about the Gërdec trial that is happening in the GJKKO today is due to the Durda family and the law firm that opened this. It was the Supreme Court that suspended it because the defendant gained immunity. The only person who won politically there was Fatmir Mediu. We have never dealt with the defendant Fatmir Mediu for personal issues, but for what he did in Gërdec. When we managed to reopen that process after 16 years, we have faith in justice. It will speak and we are setting an example of citizenship," said Durda.
