EU support, Foreign Affairs Council discussion with 5 Western Balkan ministers

The Foreign Affairs Council announced that it discussed the EU's relations with the Western Balkans after an informal breakfast with the foreign ministers of the six Western Balkan partners.

EU ministers agreed that the European Union will continue its engagement with the region, ahead of the summit on June 5, 2026, by taking concrete steps to deepen cooperation on foreign, security and defense issues.

This means further EU support against hybrid threats, including the fight against disinformation, encouraging alignment with the Common Foreign and Security Policy, and pursuing security and defence partnerships, beyond those already established with Albania and North Macedonia.
