The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has given an interview to journalist Artan Cena of Syri.net, from the cell of Prison 313 where he has been for 10 months, now officially accused by SPAK of passive corruption. After declaring himself innocent of the charges against him, Meta also appears dissatisfied with the opposition's action, demanding that it intensify the fight against corruption.
Mr. Meta, what would you like to comment on the charges communicated against you yesterday by SPAK and the closure of the investigations?
Yesterday was simply to communicate the closure of the investigations, as the three charges were officially communicated to me on May 27. Likewise, the investigations of these two months had nothing to do with me, but were related to other people. But these actions were used to justify my detention only for the purpose of political isolation on behalf of the person who ordered and orchestrated this entire judicial farce against me, Edi Rama.
Then why did this communication last almost 3 hours?
The extension had to do with procedural actions, which required a certain amount of physical time, both on my part and on that of my lawyer, Mr. Cakrani.
So, what would you conclude at the end of the investigation?
Nothing more than what I have stated since the barbaric act of my kidnapping on October 21. 10 months of investigations to be questioned only once and this on the issue of lobbying with the "McKeon Group", which has long been known to be a fabrication and as confirmed by the American judicial authorities themselves. Likewise, there is no fact or criminal evidence against Ilir Meta in this entire investigative file. There is no act, action, decision-making by Ilir Meta in violation of the law or to the detriment of the public interest.
There is also no penny or immovable property seized from Ilir Meta. So everything was based solely on media fabrications, which, on the orders of Edi Rama from the tribune of the Socialist Party, were turned into accusations by his servants in SPAK. The goal was clear, the political elimination of Ilir Meta, the hijacking of the Freedom Party, the intimidation of the opposition and citizens with the aim of violently hijacking Edi Rama's 4th mandate, to suppress their rights even more arbitrarily, as in the case of Theth, with absurd changes to the Penal Code, etc.
How will you proceed in this process?
We will move towards the preliminary court hearing. During this time, we will become acquainted with the investigations that have been carried out in more detail. We are obliged to respect confidentiality until this hearing, so that we do not become the cause of information leaks.
But I and the lawyer, Mr. Cakrani, are very clear that any "evidence" claimed by SPAK is self-contradictory for the charges raised. Conjectures and fantasies have no basis in facts and evidence in this specific case. Not to mention that full and in-depth investigations have not been carried out intentionally, just to leave room for propaganda nebulae and avoid certain persons from criminal responsibility. But the progress of the process in the future will prove that Ilir Meta and the truth are on the side of the law and transparency in every case.
What about the proposed changes to the Criminal Code? What would you comment on?
10 days ago, a citizen lost his life here, who should not have been in prison custody due to his serious health condition. Or who in any case should have been kept in the prison hospital, under medical care. Such irresponsibility and negligence not only kill human lives, but also show the true face of a repressive detention and judicial regime. This is what happens when judges automatically confirm every security measure without even reading the file or taking into account the specifics of the health of the citizens.
Then talking about these changes that have ignored all interest groups is a waste of time. But the Freedom Party will seriously deal with all justice issues, including the changes needed in the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code, by consulting with interest groups.
Meanwhile, the fight against Edi Rama's growing and unpunished corruption must be intensified, as the entire capture of the state and justice aims at the political persecution of opposition leaders to divert attention from Edi Rama's murderous corruption, which has deepened poverty to the extreme and emptied Albania of Albanians every day. 5 Priorities for 4 million Albanians plus is the clearest roadmap for a different Albania, with sunshine and opportunities for all.
