DP and SP unite! Draft resolution on integration into the European Union approved

The Democratic Party and the Socialist Party have come together as rarely before, voting with 114 votes in favor and 1 abstention on the joint draft resolution on integration into the European Union. The only MP who abstained was Bujar Leskaj.
We recall that it was previously reported that the Democrats and Socialists agreed on the final draft of the resolution, which was sent to the Assembly this morning. It was reviewed during today's plenary session, where deputies from both parties called on each other to vote for this draft resolution.

Reaffirming that the membership of the Republic of Albania in the European Union constitutes a national strategic objective, which guides and orients the entire reform agenda of the country for democratic, institutional, economic and social transformation;
Underlining the constitutional responsibility of the Assembly of Albania for overseeing the integration process, strengthening parliamentary control and ensuring transparency;
Emphasizing that the European orientation is a choice of free will, of nationwide strategic importance, which enjoys broad civic support and represents a sustainable commitment to the fundamental values of the European Union, democracy, the rule of law, freedom, justice and coexistence, equality and human dignity;
