Police surround News24, Journalists' Union reacts: Don't block reporting!

The Union of Journalists has reacted to the terror that has been taking place for more than two hours at the premises of News24 , where the media outlets News24, BalkanWeb, Panorama and Gazeta Shqiptare operate.

The Union states that it is following the event with utmost concern, while it has requested that state institutions not block, and even worse, interrupt, the work of journalists and the interruption of the reporting work of an important national information channel.

"UGSH is on alert for media freedom and the exercise of function for journalists of this media set," the reaction states.

The Albanian Journalists' Union has just been informed by colleagues at News 24 that since the early hours of today, numerous police forces, vehicles and representatives from state institutions have entered the premises of two media companies, Media Focus Group and Panorama Group, with the claim of vacating the premises, which according to the authorities belong to state entities.

Meanwhile, the media company's executives have been renting these facilities for decades.

There have been legal conflicts between the media and state institutions for this reason.

The Albanian Journalists' Union is following with utmost concern the situation currently occurring in the environment of News 24 and the other media outlets.

UGSH demands from state institutions not to block, and even worse, to interrupt the work of journalists and the interruption of the reporting work of the important information channel in the national space.
