Opposition protest today, police have a plan of measures, but refuse to guarantee the rally's progress

Representatives of the political entity Democratic Party of Albania have notified the Tirana Police of the holding of a rally, on 28.02.2026, at 18:00, in front of the Prime Minister's Office.

Given the incidents that occurred during the previous rally, where acts of violence and the use of dangerous means against police officers were evidenced, the participation of masked persons and the use of minors in the rally, as well as the information provided on the possibility of repeating such actions, the Tirana Police has responded to the political entity that it does not undertake to guarantee the development of the rally.

Regardless of the response received, the Tirana Police, in fulfillment of its functional duties, has taken all measures to guarantee public order and security in the city of Tirana, the protection of state institutions, as well as the free movement of vehicles and citizens, in the event that the rally takes place.

Tirana Police appeal to citizens that, if they encounter violent actions, they should distance themselves and denounce any illegality they observe.
