Yesterday, two candidates visited Unit 10...

At first glance, a normal campaign day. Two public figures, two messages, two rallies. But for anyone who knows the history — not just of this unit, but of Albania — their meeting in the same place is no coincidence. It is the return of history in the form of an election.

Fatmir Xhafaj and Neli Demi are in the same race today, but not on the same path. Because their paths parted four decades ago — in a different city, with a different regime, but with the same confrontation: power and man.

In the 1980s, in the small town of Kruja, Fatmir Xhafaj served as an investigator for the communist regime. He was part of an apparatus that saw citizens as objects of suspicion, not as sources of trust. On the same streets of the city, but in a different reality, a little boy grew up — Neli Demi. He didn't have a file in his hand, but books. He didn't have a mandate, but a dream.

Neli came from a family that had helped found the Albanian state — but was persecuted for precisely that. A family that had built Albania, and was punished for refusing to sell its soul. He grew up in the silence of a time that demanded obedience, and in the dignity of a home that refused to submit.

During these 40 years, Xhafaj always remained close to power. He knows how to survive every regime: from communism, to transition, to democracy in the form of a rotation. He is the classic representative of that Albanian model that never goes away — it just changes color, tone, label.

Meanwhile, Neli Demi chose a completely different path. He became a doctor. He became a psychiatrist. He dedicated his life to serving others, not building a political career. He understands the fear of the individual, the trauma of the system, the silence that is not healed by propaganda, but by care.

And today, these two men are facing each other again. But this time, it's us.

We must decide: Do we want to continue electing people who have immortalized themselves in politics, or people who are entering politics for the first time without personal interest, but with a deep sense of service?

Xhafaj will talk about experience. But Albania does not lack experience — it lacks real hope. It lacks honesty, responsibility, self-restraint. Neli Demi does not promise magical solutions, but represents what is most lacking: sincerity, humanity, a politics without a mask.

In Unit 10, history is not repeating itself. It is giving us the opportunity to change it.

For four decades, Xhafaj has promised rebirth, progress, hope… and has given us only continuity without change. This time, we have the opportunity to choose differently. To choose the person, not the system. To choose care, not propaganda. To choose an honest beginning.

The choice is ours. And the time is now.
