Lady Gaga leads nominations for 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, challenges Taylor Swift

Lady Gaga has triumphed in the nominations list for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, ending Taylor Swift's several-year dominance.

Gaga leads the way with 12 nominations, including Best Song, Best Video, and Best Album. She is also nominated in technical categories such as Best Direction, Choreography, Editing, and Visual Effects.

In the prestigious Artist of the Year category, Gaga will face big names in world music such as Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, The Weeknd, as well as two pop icons, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are currently tied in the history of these awards, each with 30 trophies, an absolute record for the MTV VMAs.

Both are nominated only in the "Artist of the Year" category this year, and a win for either of them would automatically make them the most awarded artist ever in the history of the MTV Video Music Awards.
