Robin Wright moved from the US to England, talks about the decision he made: It's liberating

Robin Wright has described her decision to move from the US to England as liberating, noting that life in America is chaotic.
The actress revealed in an interview with the Sunday Times that she now lives in England with her architect partner, Henry Smith. Of their move, she said: “It was liberating to put an end to all that. To put an end to the searching, the searching and only getting 60% of what you wanted.”
Wright was born in Texas and raised in California, making no secret of her desire to leave the United States. “America is a mess,” she said. Speaking of her experience in England, she added: “I love being in this country. There’s a freedom to be yourself here. The people are so nice. They live. They’re not in a car, stuck in traffic, panicking on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That’s most of America. It’s all hustle and bustle and competition and speed.”
Wright spoke elsewhere about her partner and specifically recalled their first meeting in a pub, when she asked a man to feed her dog and he pointed to Smith. “He said, ‘No, that’s not my dog.’ Henry was standing at the bar, he was six feet tall, he put his glass down, he came over and grabbed me by the shoulders. He said, ‘Who the hell are you?’ and I said, ‘Who the hell are you?’ and that was it.”
Describing Henry Smith, she said: “He’s a sweet person and just a good, decent adult. He’s a man.” She added that she finds it “very relaxing” to “see myself and love myself for who I am” after they started dating. “That’s exactly what I wanted. I’m turning 60 and I’m like, ‘ Is this it?’ I like being single and I’ve been single a lot. But I’m like, ‘I want to grow old with someone, travel and see the world.’”
The actress has been married three times. From 1996 to 2010, she was married to Sean Penn, with whom she had two children. In 2018, she married Clément Girodet, before filing for divorce in the summer of 2022, citing “irreconcilable differences.” She also had a brief marriage to “Santa Barbara” actor Dane Witherspoon, from 1986 to 1988.
